Clayton Farms is a fast growing company that is launching indoor hydroponic farms that provide fresh, pesticide-free produce, all year long. We grow our produce using our proprietary growing systems, and leverage technology to support all aspects of our direct-to-consumer business model. For the past three years, Clayton Farms has been growing and delivering our fresh produce directly to consumers’ door steps. Given our success with this model, we are now looking at expanding our market reach by starting our first fast casual, drive-thru salad shop in Ames, Iowa. Our salad shop is unique, in that our location will include onsite produce production that will serve as the primary source of leafy greens and microgreens for our salads and smoothies.
We are searching for a General Manager to lead all aspects of our salad shop location in Ames, Iowa. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver a menu of high quality, healthy food and drink products, as well as motivate staff to provide an outstanding customer experience. The primary responsibilities for this position include:
General Management
- Coordinate all aspects of operations to maintain superior customer satisfaction
- Provide input to menu offerings that continuously exceed expectations of the local market
- Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and events
- Maximize sales and control operational costs to ensure profitability goals are met
- Ensure compliance with labor, sanitation and safety regulations
- Develop and implement protocols that can be duplicated at future restaurant locations
Staff Management
- Hire staff and train on proper operational and customer service practices
- Maintain a supportive and positive work environment to minimize staff turnover
- Organize and supervise shifts to ensure appropriate staffing to meet customer demand
- Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
Annual Salary: $50,000 to $60,000
Requirements
The successful candidate will need experience in managing a food service establishment and will be expected to provide a supportive working environment within a fast-paced business. This position is unique in that it also requires the management of produce production. Experience growing produce (particularly in an indoor controlled environment) is not required, but is definitely considered a plus!
An ideal candidate will need experience and proven success in a restaurant or hospitality manager role. Candidates will be considered and prioritized based on their experience and skill sets in the following areas:
- Extensive food and customer service experience
- Strong leadership, motivational and people skills
- Sound understanding of financial management practices
- Appropriate certifications and knowledge in food safety and sanitation practices
- Familiarity with restaurant management software, (ex. Toast)
- Degree in business administration; hospitality management or culinary schooling is not required, but preferred
